The charming town center of Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is a vibrant hub filled with narrow, winding streets, historic buildings, and picturesque canals, along with their waterwheels that dot the town and still turn to the rhythm of the river. This has earned it the nickname “Venice of Provence.”

The large food market in the town is one of the most renowned in Provence. It takes place on Thursday and Sunday mornings across several squares and streets in the town.
Once a year, on a morning in August, a floating market is added, where merchants dressed in traditional attire sell their products from gondolas. At the end of the market, around midday, these merchants gather to sing a traditional song.
Outside the town, 5.5km – 3.4mi to the south, there is another renowned food market, known for selling exclusively locally produced goods. It takes place on Saturday mornings from March to December.

L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is also famous for its antique dealers and other second-hand vendors, making it the second-largest flea market in France after Saint-Ouen in Paris. These vendors are spread across several locations in the town, with two main hubs.
The biggest hub is near the train station
The second hub is at the Ile aux Brocante.
There a flea market is also held every Sunday throughout the day on nearby Quatre Otages avenue.
