Full Name
Cap Blanc-Nez
Cap Blanc-Nez is home to some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in northern France. Its white chalk cliffs, rising to around 134 metres, tower above the English Channel and offer sweeping panoramic views. On a clear day, you can easily make out the English coast across the strait.
From the marked walking trails, you can take in the beaches, grassy hills and constant movement of ships passing through the Channel. The Dover Patrol Monument commemorates naval operations during the First World War.
Cap Gris-Nez

In Our Top ☑️
Full Name
Cap Gris-Nez
Facing England, Cap Gris-Nez marks the closest point on mainland Europe to the British coast. Unlike Cap Blanc-Nez and its white cliffs, this headland has a darker landscape, with ancient rocks, coastal grasslands and low cliffs battered by the wind.
From the walking trails, you can watch the impressive parade of ships passing through one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world. The area is also an important stopover for migrating birds. A few military remains recall its strategic role during the Second World War, particularly in monitoring maritime traffic.

Réserve Naturelle Nationale Dune Marchand
The Dune Marchand nature reserve protects a remarkable stretch of natural scenery along the North Sea coast. Behind the beach, a series of dunes are covered with grasses, mosses and plants adapted to sandy ground and salty winds. It’s a surprisingly unspoilt wilderness.
Walking trails let you explore the varied vegetation and spot plenty of birds, especially during migration seasons. Some of the damp hollows between the dunes are home to rare plant species that thrive in these wetter conditions.
Dune Dewulf

Full Name
Dune Dewulf
East of Dunkirk, Dune Dewulf offers a completely different natural landscape from the wide beaches nearby. This large protected area combines sandy dunes, woodland, meadows and damp hollows, creating a patchwork of habitats that support a particularly rich variety of wildlife.
Paths wind between pine trees, shrubs and sandy hills, sometimes opening up to clear views of the sea. The area also preserves traces of its military past, especially around the Fort des Dunes.
Dunes du Mont St-Frieux

Full Name
Dunes du Mont Saint-Frieux
The Dunes du Mont Saint-Frieux have a lovely surprise in store: here, sandy hills sit alongside real forests. South of Boulogne-sur-Mer, this natural area combines wooded dunes, meadows and wetlands, creating a remarkably varied landscape.
Hiking trails take you through shady woodland and open spaces, with occasional spectacular views of the coastline. The unusual terrain gives the walk an almost hilly feel, something you wouldn’t normally expect from a dune landscape.
