The Albert Kahn Garden is like a journey around the world within just over four hectares. Beginning in 1892, banker and philanthropist Albert Kahn gradually acquired several plots around his home and transformed them into a series of strikingly different landscapes. The transitions can be surprisingly sudden, with just a few steps taking you from a formal garden into what feels like a wild forest.
As you explore, you’ll pass through a French formal garden extended by a flowering orchard, an English landscape garden with gently flowing lines, a woodland inspired by the Vosges Mountains, and several Japanese gardens. The Blue Forest takes its name from the bluish tones of Atlas cedars and Colorado spruces, while the Golden Forest changes dramatically with the fresh leaves of spring and the warm colors of autumn.
Rather than faithfully recreating different countries, the garden is designed as a sequence of distinct atmospheres. Bridges, rocks, ponds, meadows, and woodland paths come together to create an intimate landscape that constantly changes with the seasons.

The Saint-Cloud Estate occupies a vast hillside overlooking the Seine and western Paris. Covering 460 hectares, it combines formal gardens, terraces, ornamental ponds, broad avenues, and extensive woodland. The palace that once stood at the heart of the estate has disappeared, but its former location is still easy to understand thanks to the surrounding terraces, flowerbeds, and carefully planned viewpoints.
From the 17th century onward, much of the landscape was organized around long straight avenues, successive terraces, and sweeping views. The estate also preserves features from several different periods, with Italian inspired terraced gardens, formal layouts, more natural landscapes, and 19th century additions blending together.
Don’t miss the Grand Cascade, an impressive stone water feature, or the higher viewpoints that offer panoramic views toward Paris. Farther into the estate, the monumental avenues gradually give way to clearings and woodland crossed by numerous walking trails.

The Vallée aux Loups is made up of several gardens and wooded areas nestled within a sheltered valley. Its rolling landscape, winding paths, and dense vegetation quickly make you forget how close you are to the city. The estate combines the house where the writer Chateaubriand lived, a wooded park, and a large arboretum devoted to remarkable trees.
Chateaubriand settled here in 1807, seeking a peaceful retreat away from political life in Paris. He transformed the grounds by planting trees connected to his travels and personal memories. As a result, the garden has a deliberately romantic and informal character, where nature seems to take the lead over careful design.
The arboretum extends this atmosphere with rare trees, open lawns, ponds, and small bridges. Sheltered within the valley, it provides ideal conditions for the collections and offers an especially peaceful walk, particularly when the leaves begin to change color.

The Sceaux Estate unfolds around a 19th century château, with long avenues, ornamental ponds, and sweeping lawns stretching across the landscape. The park was created in the late 17th century for Jean Baptiste Colbert, Louis XIV’s chief minister, and later expanded by his son. The grounds were laid out along grand geometric axes, making full use of the natural slopes to create long vistas and a striking sense of depth.
From the terraces beside the château, your eye follows the geometric gardens before descending toward the cascades and the Grand Canal. Rows of trees frame the long views, while groves create quieter, more secluded spaces. Several historic buildings remain, including the Orangery, built in 1686 with its long south facing facade.
The estate is more than just a formal garden. Wide lawns, shaded avenues, and wooded areas make it easy to leave the main viewpoints behind. In spring, the blooming cherry trees attract large crowds and transform parts of the park into an entirely different landscape.

The Val de Marne Rose Garden is an entire garden dedicated to a single flower. The collection began in 1894, and a few years later the grounds were redesigned as a garden devoted exclusively to roses. It is widely regarded as the world’s first modern rose garden, where roses alone provide the main visual focus.
The garden is divided into 13 collections that trace the history of the rose, from wild species and historic varieties to modern cultivated hybrids. The formal flowerbeds are complemented by arches, columns, and structures covered with climbing roses.
Today, the site is home to more than 11,000 rose bushes representing nearly 3,000 species and varieties. The most spectacular displays take place from late spring to early summer, when the flowerbeds, pergolas, and long walkways are filled with color and fragrance all at once.
