Port Grimaud, known as the local Venice, in reference to the famous Italian city, is a village built on water, with its streets formed by 12 km of dikes and separated by 7 km of canals.
Historically, it was constructed in the 1960s on marshland by French architect François Spoerry, who envisioned a modern version of a fishing village while maintaining the colorful Mediterranean aesthetic.
It is situated opposite the famous town of Saint-Tropez, on the other side of the gulf of the same name.
