You can follow the shore from the area around Bormes-les-Mimosas and Saint-Tropez through Cannes, Antibes and Nice to Monaco and Menton.

Look north of the coast, too. The map shows how Grasse and Saint-Paul-de-Vence sit inland, with the Estérel, Maures, Préalpes d’Azur and Mercantour providing a wider sense of the landscape. You can have it beside you while comparing possible stops or checking where a village lies in relation to your base.

The PDF works particularly well for looking at the coast as a whole. It shows the position of places and natural features, but it does not provide street-level directions, transport schedules or a scale for measuring journey times. For those details, check a route planner after you have chosen your stops.

Interactive Map: Locate Places Along the Coast

<img decoding="async" width="1200" height="675" src="https://culturefrancia.com/wp-content/uploads/french-riviera-tourist-map.webp" alt="Interactive travel map of the French Riviera and surrounding inland areas, showing labeled points of interest categorized into various layers including beaches, seaside resorts, islands, villages, towns, cities, mountain ranges, coastal paths, roads and top sights. If Nice is your starting point, for example, the nearby cluster includes Villefranche, Cap Ferrat, Èze, Monaco and Menton; farther west, Antibes and Cannes form another group of possible stops.

The interactive version is handy for moving between the overall coastline and individual locations. Keep the image or PDF in mind for regional context: the Riviera can look temptingly compact on a screen, but a headland, a hill village or a boat crossing can change the shape of your day.

Places and Landmarks Shown on the Map

This Côte d’Azur tourist map is a selective overview, not a directory of every resort or attraction. Its legend distinguishes cities and towns, smaller towns and villages, coastal path areas and islands. Reading those categories makes the geography much easier to understand.

Coastal Cities and Towns from Bormes-les-Mimosas to Menton

The map’s main east-west thread is the Mediterranean coastline. In the western portion, Bormes-les-Mimosas, Port Grimaud and Saint-Tropez lead toward the area around Cannes. Continue east and you reach Antibes, Nice, Monaco and Menton, close to Italy. These names give you a sequence for orienting yourself, even if you plan to visit only one part of the Riviera.

Cannes, Antibes and Nice form a prominent central stretch. Menton marks the eastern end of the named coastal stops, while Saint-Tropez sits considerably farther west on the map. Treat the sequence as a geographic guide, not a ready-made day trip: the map shows relative positions, not travel times or the best way to get between towns.

Villages and Inland Destinations

Look beyond the shoreline to see how the Riviera extends into the hills. Grasse and Saint-Paul-de-Vence appear inland from the coastal corridor. Around Nice and Monaco, Villefranche and Èze add smaller stops to the map’s cluster of familiar names.

The distinction matters when choosing a base. A town that appears near another on a regional map may sit uphill or require a different route from a coastal journey. As former travel planners specializing in France, we use the map to shortlist places in the same part of a trip, then check the journey before fitting them into one day. That small step makes the difference between a pleasant outing and an overfilled itinerary.

Islands, Capes and Coastal Paths

The offshore markers are easy to miss, but they change how you read the coast. The Lérins Islands sit off Cannes; Porquerolles and Port-Cros appear much farther west. These are islands, so a land route alone will not get you there. Check boat connections when an island becomes part of your plans.

The map also singles out Cap d’Antibes near Antibes and Cap Ferrat to the east of Nice. Its legend identifies coastal path areas, giving walkers places to investigate further. Use these markers as starting points for a walk, not as a trail map. Before setting out, check the exact path, access conditions and return route with a detailed local map.

Mountain Ranges and Neighboring Areas

The French Riviera is framed by more than the sea. The Maures lie behind the western coast, the Estérel rises west of Cannes, and the Préalpes d’Azur and Mercantour fill the inland and northern parts of the map. Provence appears to the west and Italy to the east, making the region’s position on the Mediterranean easier to grasp.

Those labels provide orientation rather than a list of excursions. They also explain why a coastal itinerary and an inland outing can feel quite different, even when their names appear on the same regional map. For a mountain walk or a drive into the hills, move from this overview to a map with roads, paths and terrain detail.

How to Use the Map to Plan Your Visit

Begin by finding your base, then mark the places you most want to see. Group nearby stops before deciding how many to fit into a day. Around Cannes, that might mean looking first at Antibes and the Lérins Islands; around Nice, you might compare Villefranche, Èze, Monaco and Menton. If Saint-Tropez or Porquerolles is a priority, look at the western part of the map as its own area rather than assuming it falls naturally into a day based in Nice.

Next, use the legend to separate coastal towns, inland villages, islands and walking areas. That tells you what kind of journey to investigate. An island calls for a boat connection; an inland village needs a route away from the coast; a coastal path needs its own access and walking information. The tourist map helps you choose where to go; a detailed transport or walking map helps you work out how.

We find that the most satisfying Riviera plans leave room for the geography. Pick a manageable section, add the places that genuinely appeal to you, and keep the wider map close at hand for the next day of your trip.

French Riviera Travel Guide View the French Riviera Tourist Map The three versions serve different moments of a trip.
